If you have not heard about eBay then I don’t know where you have been because eBay is a billion dollar business that is in every country around the world. There are millions of people making money on eBay and a lot of them are even hitting the $1 million sales mark. How would you like to be making $1 million dollars from eBay?
Being that today is setup for a “5 Ideas To Make Money” post I decided to talk more about eBay and how you can make money from it. A lot of people don’t understand the basics of selling on eBay and that is a shame considering how easy it is to make money and how fast you can do it.

Sell Brand New Items

The first thing that you can do to make money with eBay is to sell brand new items. The best way to do this is to buy things from people that are unopened, still with tags on them, and never been used. You can find a lot of great things on Craigslist, Overstock, and even on Liquidation.com. The trick here is to buy things in bulk and then sell them individually. If you want to make a good amount of money on things that will sell then you need to buy bulk items.

Sell All Used Items

Now this is where most people start, they sell all their unwanted items and hope to make some money from it. Selling used items is a great way to start and the reason is because you have a lot of stuff you can sell and you people like new things more. I know you are probably wondering why people like used items more and the reason is because they are cheaper. With the economy the way it has been people want to save and that is why they don’t mind buying used things.

Buy And Sell Through eBay

If you have a little bit of money to put into this then you can easily buy and sell things directly with eBay. What I mean by this is you buy something in bulk or on wholesale and then you sell everything piece by piece. This is a great way to make money when you are all out of stuff and people just aren’t selling the things that you are looking for. The one thing you need to make sure of is that you calculate what things will sell for, how much it is going to cost you, what the eBay fee will be, and finally what your paypal fee with be. Once you have done all the calculations make sure there is enough profit left over for you.
Personal Story: Something that I did about a year ago was I would buy baby clothes in a lot (Normally 400-1000 pieces). Then when I got all the clothes I would sort them out to see what will sell for what price. Then once I did that I would take the clothes and I would package them up together in bundles of 5 sets each and sell them for $25. Normally for each set I would make around $20 (minus the shipping and fees). What you need to understand is the more stuff you buy the better the price will be. Trust me, try it and you will see exactly what I mean.

Sell Yard Sale Clothes

This somewhat ties into my personal story and the reason I say that is because I would go around and buy stuff from yard sales (mainly clothes). What I would do is I would create a list of all the yard sales for Saturday and Sunday and then I would go to each one of them in the morning that they opened and try to buy as many dress clothes, baby clothes, kids clothes, and dresses as I possibly could. Most of the time this would not get me as much as I needed so I had to do something else to make more money.

What I would do is I would go to the yard sales that I liked right when they were getting ready to pack things up and ask if there is anything free. A lot of times people would say that if you want everything you can have it but other times I had to buy it. So all I would do is ask what it would cost to buy everything that is left. Normally I would get items for around .05 and then when I can sell them for .50 each or more that is a great way to do business.
Advice: Don’t buy more stuff than you can handle. At first I bought a huge lot of stuff and I had to then build a mini warehouse behind my already huge garage.

Sell Anything And Everything

As a new eBay seller I know you might not want to just sell used items or things from yard sales and that is why you should sell anything and everything. Although I don’t recommend doing this forever, it does work for the time being. My advice is to use all the things that I have outlined above and find as many things to sell on eBay as you can so that you can start making money. Once you have been able to make some money for a while you should be able to figure out what niche you want to be in. Trust me, once you find your niche you will be set.
